When she decides to check it out, her life descends into a maelstrom of rape, murder, magic and bloodsoaked revenge.Excerpt: The basket was larger than she had expected - some four feet in diameter. The lid of the basket was right next to it. A thick black blanket with subtle possible floral designs was folded and placed next to the lid of the basket. It was difficult to figure out the designs exactly as they were black upon black. Everything appeared slightly dusty. She kept her eyes on the basket as well. There was a gasp from the crowd, and she noticed her own gasp from deep within her, as one end of the rope peeped out, slowly making an appearance. Incredulous, she refused to believe it still. The rope was slowly peeping out, but each second it peeped out an inch more. She punched him across the chest and on the face, but her desperate blows were swatted away as though she were a child. He put his hands around her throat and squeezed, and she felt the life draining from her. She clawed at his hands around her throat. She was losing oxygen and she stared at him, her eyes begging for mercy, but her mind expecting none.
